Dear employees, dear colleagues,
The rapid development of generative AI systems opens up new opportunities for the University of Stuttgart—in administration, research, and teaching. At the same time, it challenges us to make conscious decisions: in handling data, evaluating results, and taking responsibility for our collaborative work.
The mandatory training courses on the learning portal lay the foundation for the safe, responsible, and legally compliant use of AI systems at the University of Stuttgart. They are part of our understanding of digital sovereignty and responsible innovation.
In addition, you will find a diverse and growing range of materials, courses, and tutorials to help you use AI competently, creatively, and thoughtfully in your everyday work. Our goal is to enable you to use these technologies safely, effectively, and in line with our shared values.

University-wide AI Circle (Webex)
Since May 2024, the university-wide AI group has been meeting regularly online via Webex to discuss the sensible and responsible use of generative AI at the University of Stuttgart. Topics include strategy, tools, regulations, training, and ethical issues.
The group is organized by the Vice Rectorate for IT.
If you would like to participate or receive information about upcoming meetings, please send an email to ki@uni-stuttgart.de to be added to the mailing list.

RAI (https://rai.uni-stuttgart.de) is the university's data protection-compliant AI tool. Note: Access is only possible via VPN.
The video tutorials are currently only available in German, but have been provided with English subtitles. 🇬🇧

Mandatory training on the responsible use of AI
There are two equivalent trainings to choose from for the compulsory training, and you are free to choose between them.
Important: You only need to complete one of the two modules. At the end of each course, you will receive a certificate that is valid for one year at our university.
The BW basic course with a text-based learning module enriched with supplementary videos, which has been coordinated with all state universities via the HND BW as well as with ZENDAS (available in German or English; time required approx. 30–60 minutes):
