Kursprogramm
The "Industrial Mobile Robotics Lab" course provides an in-depth introduction to mobile robotic systems. Students will work in teams to gain practical experience in operating and controlling mobile robots, a key technology in modern industrial environments. This hands-on course is a collaboration between the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the University of Stuttgart.

For self-study, students will have access to instructional videos covering relevant topics before the course begins. Teams will be formed at each university location, working on either a robot control system or a fleet management system for coordinating multiple mobile robots. The implementation will be based on the VDA 5050 communication interface, which ensures standardized data exchange between system participants.

Students from both universities will meet at a kick-off event at KIT. Throughout the project, teams will collaborate to jointly control a fleet of real industrial mobile robots, culminating in a final event at KIT. A simulation environment will be available to facilitate development and testing before working with physical robots. Apart from the two events at KIT, the course will be held in Stuttgart.

The course will take place from 14.05.2025 to 02.07.2025.
