Emigration und Exil von Wissenschaftlern und Ingenieuren
Projektseminar von <b>Prof. Dr. Klaus Hentschel</b> mit begleitender fachpraktischer Übung, wöchentl. Di., 14:00-15:30 in Raum 17.91
Der Nationalsozialismus und andere totalitäre Diktaturen zwangen Zehntausende politisch oder religiös Verfemte in die Emigration, darunter auch Tausende bedrohte Wissenschaftler, Ingenieure und Techniker. Am Beispiel der Emigration aus Deutschland ab 1930 und Österreich ab 1938 werden wir anhand biographischer, sozial- und disziplinengeschichtlicher Fallstudien die individuellen, sozialen, institutionellen und disziplinären Auswirkungen jener Emigrationswelle untersuchen. Auch die im Ausland gegründeten Hilfsorganisationen sowie die Frage der dortigen Akzeptanz bzw. Zurückweisung von Emigranten werden uns interessieren, ebenso auch disziplinäre und mentalitätshistorische Unterschiede im Verhalten von Naturwissenschaftlern und Ingenieuren ebenso wie Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaftlern. Sozial-historisch erfassbar sind z.B. Emigrationsquoten und -wege oder auch spätere Remigrationsquoten nach 1945. Mit den erarbeiteten Daten und Beispielen erweitern wir die in einem früheren Lehrprojekt angelegte frei zugängliche webpage https://www.hi.uni-stuttgart.de/gnt/exil/index.html um neue Emigrationsländer und Disziplinen. Das Seminar ist offen für Studierende aller Fächer, insb. auch der Geschichtswissenschaft und DH, aquch für SQ-Studierende und Gasthörer/innen, sofern diese bereit sind, auch einen eigenen Beitrag zum Projekt beizusteuern.
