Physics and technology of nanostructures for quantum optics (Vertiefungsveranstaltung zu 04364)

The course will describe the physics of nanostructures and their use and impact in quantum optics. Cavity quantum electrodynamics, non-classical photonics, integrated quantum optics and optical resonators will be discussed. Additionally, the most recent nanofabrication techniques will be described. All arguments will be presented with a close look to real-world applications and realistic uses. • Basic properties of single photons: brightness, indistinguishability • Cavity quantum electrodynamics: from weak coupling to strong coupling • Cavities and optical resonators • Nanofabrication and state-of-the-art deterministic lithography techniques • On-chip quantum photonics • Control of the emitter properties: from tuning to pumping mechanisms
